Tech's Field Goal Kicker is named Scott Blair. He wears #14. He has hit on 14 of 19 field goals this season and has become much more consistent this season from longer distances- hitting 5-6 from beyond 40 yards with a long of 49. He uses all of the goalposts on a lot of his kicks, but they don't have to look pretty to count as Iowa fans should know. He doesn't kick the ball real deep on Kick offs and the team overall struggles covering kicks. They seem to hold their lanes pretty well but they just aren't a good tackling team. They have given up two TD returns this season.
They don't punt often put #85 Charlie Anderson is a very effective punter. He averages around 40 per punt and has had only 3 touchbacks. He has had 9 of his 30 punts downed inside the 20. They haven't punted in their last two games. They go for it on 4th down more than any other team I have ever seen.
#17 Orwin Smith is a very good return man. He has very good balance and pretty good speed. He had a similar return to DJK, where he dropped the initial return, picked it up and ran 83 yards against Duke. He can break a tackle or two and has the burst to turn the corner.
Jerrard Tarrant is the punt returner and he usually makes solid decisions returning the punts. He is also pretty dangerous with the ball in his hands although I would call him more quick than fast. He is very shifty and almost always makes the first guy miss, giving himself a chance to make a nice return.
