HN TV: Full Kids Day Practice Footage

If you want to get a sense of what a freak AJE is, watch his sack at around 6:10 in this video. His shed is so quick, poor Kallenberger doesn't even know what happened as AJE gets to the QB in under 2 seconds.

And then again at around 8:45. Hawks are doing goal-line stuff, and AJE has responsibility for the back leaking into the flats. Not only does he recognize the back trying to evade him instead of block him (some Hesse-like awareness there), he spins all 285 lbs of himself on a dime to turn and run with Sargent and forces an errant pass.

It still needs to play out over this season, but I started thinking yesterday while watching him that AJE might be the most gifted Hawkeye I've watched in 22 years covering the team.

Really? Not saying I think you have a dumb take, but it seems like they always rough on kids day.

I got the impression that this is the best they've looked this early in a long time.
This, the defense usually dominates the scrimmage. The offense had a pretty good day compared to past years.

Very good. I have to say I dont usually go to these practices. Seemed like a lot of missed short passes from all QBs, some good run blocking and running and some negative plays. I thought the defense was flying around with some good speed.

I will take the posters' view that they are looking pretty good.

The offense looked pretty rough, I hope they have a lot of practices left.

You do realize the defense basically knows what the offense is gonna run, right? No different than telling the opposing D what play you are gonna run. No element of surprise at all. And the O looked pretty good for being so early in.
