HN: The 2010 Big Ten Champ Will Be......

Just do not get your love for the Wolverines this year. They lost their two best players off of a bad defense...and that means improvement?
Robinson is a waif, probably weighs 190lbs dripping wet, and he will handle the pounding of running the ball often?
They lost their best special teams player in that punter.
Wisky will beat them as well as Iowa. ND and UConn could also. You seem to think they will somehow thread the needle on all these games? No.

Iowa had a great team last year. Michigan was bad last year. The game was played at Kinnick at night and we had to hold on at the end of the game to beat Michigan by 2 points. Michigan runs a spread offense and we are terrible against a spread offense. ISU and Michigan both ran the ball on us. We also needed 5 turnovers to win by 2 points.

Now the game is in the Big House. Rich Rod is in his 3rd year. I can agree completely with Jon predicting Michigan to beat Iowa. I definitely think Iowa can win, but it will be a 4th quarter game.

When was the last time Iowa beat Michigan and Ohio St in the same season?

Teams that most concern me are:

at Arizona
at Michigan
at Northwestern
Ohio St

Michigan St might also be looking for some revenge. A lot of landmines out there. The good news is though that there is no team on Iowa's schedule that they can not beat this year. It will just come down to showing up, solid play, and some luck.

First off, Stanzi spotted the Wolverines 7 points to start the game. And consider who Michigan lost from last year:

1. Brandon Graham (1st round draft pick, best defender from last year)
2. Donovan Warren (their 2nd best defender, and the 2nd best CB in the BT last year)
3. Brandon Minor (team's leading rusher, and he was the one who gashed us)
4. Carlos Brown (#2 rusher, real speedster)
5. Zoltan Mesko (one of the best punters in the nation)

I don't see them getting too much better after losing nearly all of the few bright spots they had on last year's team. And the Big House isn't all that intimidating. RichRod is in his 3rd year, but the first two were absolutely dreadful, and he's feeling more heat than any other coach in the country. And when they lose to Notre Dame, his butt will be boiling.

If I had to pick just 1 loss for Iowa this year it would not be to Michigan. I think you have Michigan rated a little to high and I think Northwestern will find a way to get bowl eligible. Otherwise your picks are solid as I find it really difficult to predict the entire Big 10. My top 4 are Iowa, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State then after that I would be down to pulling names out of a hat to figure out 5-10 with Indiana being last.

I love the pick of Illinois being 6-6 and going to a bowl game. Hopefully it will keep Zook around for a few more years.
