I don't get it. The guy still hasn't said no. He is simply using coaching speak to say that he is playing in the NCAA tournament, doesn't want to be bothered with the questions. No means No but he hasn't said No.
All of these 'writers' are trying to read between the lines and come to a conclusion. He says he hasn't been contacted by Iowa...fine, but that doesn't mean our recruiting firm hasn't contacted him. He's saying things about Iowa that are complimentary but still give him negotiating control if he decides to talk to us tomorrow.
Hell, for all we know Forbes has been contacted and is the point man for Pearl right now. Forbes clearly is expressing his desire to coach at Iowa. Maybe he will be Pearl's assistant.

ST. LOUIS — Another year, another men's basketball coaching vacancy at Iowa.
And, naturally, Bruce Pearl's name is in play.
But Pearl, an assistant coach at Iowa under Tom Davis in 1986-92, said he has not been contacted about the job and is happy at Tennessee.
"I am here at Tennessee," he said. "I'm going to be at Tennessee. I'm grateful to be at Tennessee. I'm blessed to be at Tennessee.

The Hawkeyes are looking for a replacement for Todd Lickliter, who was fired after three seasons.
Pearl is still critical of the way his mentor was treated at Iowa.
"I'm a Tom Davis disciple," he said. "They had something really, really good there. I'm on record as saying that Tom Davis should've still been the coach at Iowa for a long, long time. He didn't retire. He didn't resign. They just didn't renew his contract."
Pearl suggested Iowa take a look at Vols assistant Steve Forbes "if they don't hire a head coach and hire an assistant."
