Highly Paid Coaches Translates into High Expectations

Lickliter, with endorsements and shows, makes over $1 million per year and apparently has $2.4 million guaranteed over the next 4 years.

The Iowa fans have nothing to show for it, except humiliation, losses and player defections.

I have no problem if Barta fires him -- the bar should be set high when you make that kind of money. I certainly can't feel sorry for him, making that type of guaranteed money. He knew what he was getting into when he took the Iowa job (he could have stayed at Butler!).

If Barta wants to give him more time, I'm ok with that as well -- but you have to start winning sometime to earn that kind of money.

College sports have changed -- highly paid coaches equal extremely high expectations.

What changed your mind? A couple weeks ago you were his biggest fan and everyone who wanted him gone was a crybaby. Well which is it ?

Lick made his own bed now he has to lie in it!

The guy has been a train wreck

We will lose 2 or 3 more players if he stays.

Lick has to go!

I will never feel sorry for college coaches that get fired. I may feel they shouldn't have been let go but I will never feel sorry for them. They want the $ so they understand what is expected. 99% of them would never have to work again after they got fired if they didn't want to. The treatment of Tom Davis was unjustified in my opinion but I still didn't feel sorry for him because he knew that could happen in his position and he was set for life. The TL situation is completely justified though.

HawkI101....that's exactly how I feel as well. If Lick is fired, he can spend the rest of his life in financial security....good for him, I don't resent that one bit. But, it is an enviable position for most, so I'm not going to feel sorry for him or any other head coach that receives the ax.
