Nile Kinnick turned down professional football, too. Technically, Ernie Davis never played professionally either. Then there's Ward. Then you have to consider what you define as "gone on to play pro ball". Does Eric Crouch count?

I'd think that you would at least play one year pro to make a bunch of money and then do whatever you wanted.

Well in Davis' case, it wasn't by choice (leukemia).

Kinnick simply had much higher asperations than football (many teammates thought he would have become governor/senator/president had he not been killed), and recognized that football was just a game. He also lived in a time when college athletes were actually STUDENT-athletes. Players were much smarter back then than they are now.

And Ward chose to play in the NBA, and had a very good career there.

eric crouch? though if you count CFL, NFL Europe, or USFL I'm sure people have at one point or another...but there are some that probably havent im sure.

What happened to that Jason White kid from Oklahoma? And that Leinhart from USC isnt really doing too much playing
