Hawks UDFA's

I forget, did Kaevon have all his eligibility used up? I know he skipped the bowl game but could he have come back for another year if he wanted? I guess it does not matter either way now.

A lot of times these guys make it by their special teams play. Teams are always looking for gunners, etc. They also get stashed on the practice squad waiting for injuries.

I think one thing that might help some of these guys is the reputation that our guys do the fundamentals very well. You hear all the time, that our guys may not be as athletic, but they tackle, block, and are usually in position to make a play. This may bode well for a role on special teams if they cannot make it at their said position.

I hope Kaevon has other plans besides football
I hope so too. No one in his situation should put all his eggs in the football basket, but I think he has a decent shot of hanging on for at least a scout team role. A lot of folks were surprised he was not drafted. Even if the NFL does not work out, there is Arena or Canada or XFL to consider as well. If he works hard he can make some scratch playing football for at least the next few years. Beats selling insurance, and hey, he could also make a team and get a real contract. Totally worth the try.

His only real athletic trait is his size yet he’s not a great tackler. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t see much chance he even makes a practice squad.

Agreed. And he is a pretty smart guy. I would be very surprised given this fact and the track record of Iowa players if he hasn't already received a degree from Iowa.

His agent did him a solid. Tampa only had like 3 other safeties on the roster I believe. He'll have more then a snow balls chance anyway. I wish he was a step faster or two. He ran a pretty slow 40 and just wasn't all that impressive in Indy. To make up for that guys like him have to anticipate and react to plays almost ahead of time. We'll see if he can stick or not.

All three of them had a covid year available if they wanted it.

I think Benson has a lot of upside. Overshadowed obviously by Campbell, but I think he can stick around. Who knows, maybe he plays alongside The Outlaw.

I think he would absolutely be an NFL guy based just on performance. But I believe he has a seriously jacked up ankle that will scare teams away if he is neck-and-neck with some other guy in camp.

Merriweather has a decent shot of making the team based on the current construction of the Bucs roster.
No clue about Benson in Denver.

Pottenbaum in Pittsburgh is interesting. Derek Watt(brother of TJ and JJ) is a 30 year old free agent. Do you bring back Derek or just plug-in Pottenbaum? Pottenbaum did waaaay more good than bad at Iowa. I just remember his glaring mistakes and I fully acknowledge that is a me problem.
