The last time we did that was awesome. We didn't play that well, but the atmosphere was sweet. Somewhat bowl like tailgaiting. I'll be there!

It will also be nice to see jNW drop off the schedule for a few years. Just to get away from those pesky cats for a few years will be a good thing.

That 2012 non conference schedule is embarrassing.

Looks like we lose MSU and Northwestern for two years. Two teams that always play us tough.

99% chance I'll be going back to Soldier for this one, the first Kinnick East game was an awesome time!

My family and I are already talking about going back. We were there in 2007, and we'll be there in 2012!! That was such an awesome time. I'll never forget seeing so many Iowa shirts walking around downtown Chicago and out by the stadium. We definitely took over that area!!!

Agreed on the non-con schedule. One of the things I look forward to with Iowa is the fact that we man up and play other BCS conference teams. 2012 just looks drab to me. Don't get me wrong, I will definately hit up the Soldier Field game otherwise though Central Michigan is a yawner. Hopefully we get somebody better back on the non-con for 2013.

Let's just hope the Chicago Parks department orders more Port a John's.

That was F'ing gross last time trying to walk around the river of "S & P" that was over flowing out of them last time.

It's a bit early for me to book amtrak tix, but I'd love to go to Soldier Field. Grab the train Freyday mornin', spend the night in Chi Town, see the game, then bring the Southwest Chief back home to Kansass. :)

With all due respect to Bears' fans, Soldier Field has to be the ugliest remodeled stadium on the planet. Great city, ugly stadium.

Whom ever makes the schedule needs to be fired, I know we have no control on the big ten side but these nc games are down right stupid lets start getting some eye opening hard schedules and get that sos up, geez

You want wins in the non-conference. The schedule is fine(Iowa State is a bitter rival and always is a tough game). Ohio State and Michigan schedule mostly cupcakes as well. No reason to schedule non-conference powers (Fry did it a couple of times and paid dearly with injuries and losses).

The Big Ten schedule is brutal enough ---

As a Bears fan I completely agree. The inside of the stadium is fine but the outside is a complete eyesore. The historic concourse and pillars use to be really cool to walk into a game under but now you see the big hunk of metal behind it and it feels like you're entering a Planet of the Apes or Star Trek convention (my apologies if you like either of these ;) ).

Agreed on Soldier Field. As a Bears fan, the inside is a spectacular place to watch a game. But the looks of it from the outside are just plain terrible. They would have been better served leaving Soldier Field and building a new stadium elsewhere in town.
Either way I am looking forward to an excellent football season this year for the Bears and Hawks!

Are you serious? OSU has scheduled the likes of USC, Washington, Texas, and have Miami, FL on tap this season. They always seem to strive to play against at least one tough top program each year.

Michigan always plays ND each season. And even though they are a shadow of their former self, they are a respected program and are much better than anything on our list. I will agree that there schedule can be pathetic when ND has off years though. Even though they have played Oregon recently.

You need good non conference opponents. It helps with preparing for the Big Ten season and gives you a good chance to recruit other areas. Those are Ferentz's words not mine(paraphrasing). We have done a better job of scheduling non conference quality teams lately. With the likes of Pitt and Arizona. So hopefully 2011 is just an exception.

I don't think any of us are campaigning to have the toughest non conference schedule in the nation. All we really are looking for is one game against a quality team. ISU may count from an emotional standpoint, but they don't normally from a SOS standpoint.

Non-con schedule that year surprised me as well, as Iowa has played at least two BCS teams in the non-con every year since 2003.
