This is deja vu all over again to 2014 swoon. Hawks 2-16 over last 10 minutes. overall 32% to 48 % for wisky so you arent going to win many games like that.

Too bad. Need to find ways to take the shots they are good at and not under pressure.

For all the other theories and narrative. Shooting sub .400 lost this game. The end.

We don't need to go back to the insane and unsustainable % we were shooting midseason. We simply need to shoot around 45%....and not go on 6 minute scoring droughts.

Also, Wisky hit back to back 3's...Twice. and 3 of them were contested. At just the right time.

That's in in a nutshell.. Fran looks like a genius when our team was hitting 3 at a 45% clip. Wiscy got their nuts handed to them by MSU because they couldn't shoot and darn near lost to Illinois at home same reason. But of course they catch fire and hit their threes against us even the contested ones.

Hawks have no half-court offense. 75% of Jok's shots are from his defender blowing past him for a lay-up, only for him to cherry-pick to the other end and hit a 3.

I agree. Iowa giving up 20 3 pointers the past 2 games is just bad luck.

Penn State went 1 for 21 or something crazy like that. It sure wasn't because we were playing lights out perimeter defense. I saw a tweet from some basketball guy, I can't remember who. But he quoted a Stat of some random team's 3 point defense for the first 10 or so games and the last 10 or so games and said "further proof that team's 3 point defense stats are mostly random". I agree with him.

Teams shoot most of their shots when they're open. That's why they're shooting the shot. It's out of the defenses hands whether they make the open shot or not. Now if there was a stat that showed how many 3 point ATTEMPTS a team allows per game, that would say more about a team's perimeter defense. Or maybe it would say something about how bad their interior defense is. Stats can be dumb.

59 pts won't cut it... Period. Iowa's over under should be 75. Not 60. Too many missed layups throughout the game. Free throws again. Not to mention settling for tough jumpers at the end of shot clocks. Uthoff has to get on the block and at the elbow with the ball. As good as he is at those off balance deep jumpers he hasn't been hitting them... And since the offense goes through him and Jok they have to really be bringing it game in and game out. I'm done hoping and praying that MG can be any kind of 3rd option. He doesn't even want to be. Clemmons is trying out there at least. But he's just a shooting guard that's really streaky trapped in a 6'2 body. He's a 6 to 14 pt a game guy at the most pretty much.

The tough jumpers at the end of the shot clock are acceptable because the other team is trying too. They are going to inevitably have good defensive possessions. It's not like those happen abnormally often enough to worry about. We have to start making open jumpers and layups at a respectable clip tho.

True but all too often we've had to do that. This team is better when they are getting the look they want within 15 seconds of a possession. When MG is out front dribbling with less then 10 on the shot clock it's just about always bad news for us. So the fewer of those types of possessions the better is my over arching point on that.

Yea thats not good if it happens too often for sure.

Yeah they missed 2 of 16 and some were open, but very few were taken in any rhythm at all. Why was Iowa so good a month ago?? Because they were better defensively. They were getting stops, getting the board and running into a secondary break getting a good shot or getting fouled and going to the line, they were able to force the issue offensively. Its tough to do that off makes for the other team. Like I said in another post, this whole thing comes down to being better defensively.

Agree 100%... The biggest glaring issue we have the last few games is defensively. No stops means no or very little transition which is bad for a team that relies on that heavily.

Crazy to think shooting just 7 of 16 to finish the game would have won it.

Got a good feeling about tomorrow. Don't know why, I just do.
