As bad as we sometimes think the offense is statistics sometimes make it look ok. In conference the hawks scoring is average and many are way behind Wisky. But the hawk scoring is skewed by that 40+ point output Illinois. The hawks defense as usual is almost at the top of the list and that includes those games against two highly ranked opponents. In all games the hawks scoring is about third in this list but the non-conf games are above the average while as we all know the scoring in conf play has been down except for Illinois.
The points per game differential is not a large enough gap to win a division at about 3 points to the positive per game. Look at Wisky with a 63 point difference over 4 games. Should have beat jNW with their negative differential and ain’t scared of nebby with their numbers. As a matter of fact Iowa’s scoring is the only other positive differential in the division except for Wisky. And turnovers are a negative this year I believe.
Conclusion, offense is keeping us from winning the close games like we did in 2015 and 2013. But Minny's defense is not that good so the hawks will win tomorrow.
