Hawks Make Final 8 for Malik Williams

Gotta be in it to win it...

Interesting enough Malik attends the same high school as Iowa Football recruit Mac Hippenhammer and it sounds like they at least have some sort of relationship. There have been some murmurs that Mac will commit to Iowa (at least 3 247 crystal balls have predicted it the last day or so).

Also our favorite football recruit Eno Benjamin was shouting out Malik on Twitter.

Let's hope for a package deal!!

I'm hesitant to even get my hopes up on this one. Would be a game changing recruit for the basketball program. Similar to the way Eppy was for football.

Williams compared his game to Uthoff. If he were to come to Iowa he would have a lot bigger and stronger frame than Uthoff. Uthoff would be a different player if he were twenty pounds heavier. Hopefully, Uthoff can stick in the NBA.

I was a little disheartened to see that one of the main criteria they're using to choose is the ability to prepare them for the NBA. Granted, we haven't put all that many in the NBA. However, if you think back to last year, Uthoff was getting a LOT of great press and even talk of player of the year at one point. If he would have kept up that level of play, he'd have been drafted for sure, and has signed an NBA contract in spite of not being drafted. If Malik's game is in fact similar to Uthoff's, there's no reason he can't garner the same kind of notoriety at Iowa.

Most are thinking he goes to Louisville and then Michigan State. Many also did not see Woody choosing Iowa over North Carolina neither.

I read on another board that he was officially visiting Iowa the weekend of the Iowa-Iowa State game. He must be fairly interested along with probably four other schools.

I saw this too. He would be a perfect fit for our system. He's a flat out stud

Louisville might be facing an NCAA nuclear winter, so I'd be surprised if he chose them. Especially if Slick Rick has been forced to stop the hoes for bros program.

Me thinks the "hoes for bros" has nothing to do with gardening...... LMAO!!!!!!

Malik is extremely skillful on offense and a monster on D. He and Tyler Cook would be a nightmare for the opponents. They would be almost impossible to stop inside, especially in motion.

Sincerely hope we can land this basketball demon.

Love Eno and his ambassadorship for the Hawks.

If I were Malik, as long as the pieces are there, I would rather go to a program on the rise and be the one who brings them to prominence, rather than go to a program that is already there. With Tyler Cook here, and Connor coming in, I think Malik could take them to that next level, and possibly gain even more notoriety than he'd get at a top program like Louisville or MSU. Just look at all the press Uthoff was getting while he was playing well and little ol' Iowa came out of nowhere.

I was actually thinking of this the other day. Is a selling point for players that winning championships at an unexpected university more fulfilling for the players?

I agree.

I was wondering if a date had been set. That might not be a bad weekend. Although it is certain to be a crazy one! That kickoff time will make for a loony time in IC, as if it needed any help. ;)
