Hawks losing radio home in Omaha

Iowa sports were broadcast on 590 AM out of Omaha for the last couple of years. That station has a very strong, clear signal and can be picked up from quite a distance away. Today it's in the news that 590 will become a Husker sports station beginning July 1. Hope we can get a new affiliate in the Omaha area.......probably won't be as strong a signal though, which is too bad.

How about on the Council Bluffs side of the river perhaps. When I lived in NW Iowa I still got 1040 in Dsm just fine. Especially at night.

Well that sucks. I can't get council bluffs radio at least where I'm at in Nebraska. I hope they get someone not just for games but I like listening to the coaches call in show as well.

Back to the days of no basketball on radio and maybe football on a station broadcasting from a closet powered by a wire coat hanger for an antenna.

Just came in to post this. They announced on my drive home last night and I almost crashed. No place to listen to my hawks now and I often find myself listening instead of watching the football games, very sad about this.

What is really sad is the hosts made a point that they won't turn in Nebraska's propaganda wing and they will still cover the hawks etc. Of course the next guests were some Lincoln radio guys they are partnering with who among another things stated that the huskers are the favored team in southwest Iowa, the basketball team has a great homecourt advantage, a win vs Wisconsin would count for 2 wins and they put on a 5 hour pregame show.

I love Omaha but the rest of this state and the big red idiots can all sit and spin.

They weren't just Lincoln radio guys, they were a couple of the play by play guys for football and baseball, one of which was born in SW Iowa. Quit being so thin skinned, little brother.

Don't let the door hit ya...........

Anyhow, maybe you should look into this:

Interwebz work pretty good for radio.

That new world wide web thingy is complicated, yo.

Your real problem is that you live in Nebraska:) Just kidding. My parents lived in NW Iowa my entire life and moved to Wayne, NE when I was several years out of college, in 1992. They moved back to my hometown, which was my dad's hometown as well, 13 years later upon retirement. Where are you at, out of curiosity?

95.3 out of Red Oak has a pretty good signal. I would think those that live in Omaha could pick it up. They do tend to cut the post-game short more often than you'd like, though.
