Hawks just beat a tough, athletic team by 20+; what is the ceiling?

White and Marble were off in the first half but the bench just keeps coming at teams.

Keep starting Woodbury but if he is not on Gabe and others get more minutes. You dont break up a good thing.

White really showed me something in the 2nd half with that off hand, left hand drive from way out at the top of the circle for the layup and one.

The half court offense is getting even better, with lots of motion, screens and cuts.

This team could really put on a special run as they have lots of good players all over the court and they seem to luv playing together.

Go hawks

This team will go as far as their mental toughness can take them. Their mental toughness is their only ceiling.

There isn't one.
This is not true. They haven't been to the tournament in a long, long time. The thing about the tourney is the first time teams make the dance, they tend not to do well.

I think sweet 16 is the ceiling this year. One win in the tournament should be expected at this point. Three wins would be fantastic, and anything more will take some luck. They appear to have figured out how to win on the road against good opponents, but lets hope that lasts. The end of the ISU game still haunts me.

This...At the end of the day...we have 11 decent players...teams like KU or UK have 4-5 NBA draft picks...that will show come tournament time..."Its not the X's and O's its the Jimmy's and Joe's."

They are the teams with "no ceiling"

I bet you're fun at parties.

The thing about basketball is it's played with emotion, confidence, adrenaline, but mostly, mental toughness. There is no ceiling for a team like Iowa if they have the right mental toughness.

We will have to agree to disagree...a team like Iowa has a ceiling due to their talent...they're all fine players...but at the end of the day...when a team needs to dig deep...teams like UK and KU...can dig a lot deeper than a team like Iowa.

The ceiling is very high depending on if ogelsby, uthoff and marble can developed a consistent threat from outside. If iowa can hit 3's like they did today, they can hang with anyone, including AZ or Syracuse.

I don't agree with no ceiling but I sure as heck don't agree with the sweet 16 as a ceiling.

We are knocking on the door of the top 10... Why in the heck would sweet 16 be our ceiling??

I get that we don't have tourney experience but I think the NIT run last year can give us something to build on and were led by a senior in Marble and junior white.

I would say final 4 would be our ceiling, if we are hitting on all cylinders similar to the 2nd half today.

So you're saying... Never mind. It's not worth my time.

Why don't you tell that to Butler...or VCU... or George Mason... or?

Hard to put a ceiling on this team. I believe this team is capable of beating anyone. I think a lot will depend on the seeding and where they get placed. For example it would be a tough draw for Iowa to get a 4 seed in the same region as Arizona or Syracuse.

A lot of basketball to be played yet.

I'm impressed with how well we play when our better players aren't on their game. That shows mental toughness as a team. Its a good sign.

This. The bold part..

This gets a shout out from Florida Gulf Coast

KU, Cuse, Ky ... others might have more concentrated talent but Iowa is deeper than any of those teams. That would allow Hawks to compete with any of those teams.

Pretty awesome to type that with a straight face because it's simply the truth.

That would be a tough draw for sure for both Arizona and Syracuse.

If they shoot well, the ceiling is high. Not sure how it will pan out...I know I have enjoyed it so far this year. There will be games that the shots don't fall and we will drop a few. I hope they compete in the big ones, stay healthy, and play well in late Feb and March.

Honestly, I'll be pretty darn happy with anything beyond the first round....would love to see the sweet 16 though.

Its great to be a Hawkeye during basketball season.... again !!!
