After seeing the upsets tonight, Iowa seems to be a rock solid 3rd place finisher this season. UM and MSU are better teams and deserve 1 and 2 (nice if we could pick off MI in Carver). Hawks all alone in 3rd. The rest...eh, what a muddled mess. Gophers? They lost to lowly NE. WI? Don't tell me about their bad losses.

Nothing wrong with 3rd place. Would get you solid seeding and be a tourney lock for the first time in 8 years and hey, still an outside shot at the BIG title, this conference has been weird, you never know if MSU or Michigan hit a losing streak.

Nebraska's only home loss this season is to Michigan and they should have won that game. Nebraska is getting close to NIT consideration and their schedule sets up nice for them...17-14 is feasible.

If we play like we did last night we could very well find ourselves right in the middle of that muddled mess. No game left on our schedule is a sure win. Let's face it it's a 2 horse race and Iowa is Farmer Ted in 16 Candles. King of the Dipsh!ts

We lost by two to a top-10 team (in OT) while playing terribly. We play like last night we're getting a bunch of free throws and probably making at least 5 more shots. We'd be fine.

A top 10 team missing two of their top players. Sorry we had no excuse to lose that game.

We have absolutely zero quality wins. ZERO.

MSU had a part in that, they forced us down to their pace and made sure it was a close slugfest. Fran got outcoached and the players didn't make plays when it mattered. Other teams we play will watch that game closely. We have not guaranteed a spot in the big dance yet so its about time we win 3 or 4 conference games in a row and wrap this up.

I would be thrilled with a top 3 finish and it would approach my favorite Iowa basketball season ever if Iowa finished 3rd or better and Wisky finished out of the top 4. Minnesota seems to have the best chance right now of finishing in the 4th spot ahead of the Vadgers.

15-3 is what is going to win this conference, so we are essentially out of it. But that's okay. If we can finish up at 13-5 and find a way to get to the championship game of the B1G, that puts us at 26-7 and good for probably a #3 seed, #4 seed at worst. Then it's a crap shoot and depends fully on matchups once the NCAA start. For example, we could end up in the same region as Wichita State and if we were good enough to win our first 2 games and get to the Sweet 16, I'd love our chances against that team, assuming they made it that far as well.

As Jon said in a previous thread, there's just too much basketball to be played and too many things that could happen. Heck, OSU and Wisky went down to the 2 teams many have argued were the bottom 2 teams in the conference. I'm going to enjoy this season the best I can because seasons like this don't come around very much for Iowa. 86-87, 92-93(until Street's death), 96-97, 98-99, 05-06....that's about it in the last 30 years.
