Hawks D this season vs. last

What are everyone's thoughts on the D this year vs last season?

Obviously the shooting percentage is lacking so far. But if the Hawks are playing better D, that will more often or not give you a shot to win....

They've done a better job of holding for the entire possession, instead of playing great for 32 seconds and then giving up a bucket. If they can maintain that, we'll be alright. That at least allows us to get wins when we aren't shooting well.

The Hawk defense really look good the first two-thirds of last year. After that, my mother-in-law could have put up thirty against them.

Too early to make blanket assertions as of yet. Team is competing well so far. The second half against Texas was a replay of the end of last year. Was that an aberration, or what will happen against good teams? The ISU game will answer that to some extent. ISU doesn't have the inside game of Texas, but they do have multiple guys who can shoot/pass/dribble.

I feel like our defense last year, for most of the season, was successful but it seemed built more on forcing turnovers. This year, it feels like easy shots are tough to come by thus far. We've got to find a way to get some easy buckets though while still maintaining the intense defense and that's going to come from hitting open shots. Opportunities have been there (at least against North Carolina they were) just have to drain them.
