Hawks Burn the Boilermakers Prediction Thread

I have a feeling most of us are looking past this one towards Nebraska and the B1G championship game. I'd like to see Kirk run up the score right away and then start benching starters as early as possible. As in 2nd quarter early. I'm not scared of next week but keeping our guys fresh for that game is more important than totally dominating this one.
45-13 Iowa

We're fans, we can look past and it doesn't matter. Players aren't wired like that. Hawks roll 49-0

It'll be tight in the first half. 17-7 Iowa after the first half. Iowa pulls away 35-10 in the 4th quarter and clinches the West

I think coaches are going to tell CJ to never leave the pocket, if they even pass much at all. Lots of rotations at running back amounting to 400+ yards on the ground.

Iowa: 45 , Thomas the Tank Engine: 6

I keep going back and forth on this one. Iowa is going to win, that is not a question to me.

With Purdue's horrible rush defense, we're going to dominate the line of scrimmage. But do we take every possession for 8 minutes on 15 plays and keep it a respectable 24-6, or are Purdue's secondary and linebackers also so bad that we can't help but break out big runs and rack up scores for something more like 45-10?

Well, because I love the Hawks, 45-10, Iowa!

Iowa breaks 30 again, and the game is never really in doubt, although I don't expect an all-out rout.

Iowa - 37
Purdue - 17

Like the OP said, I really want to see this become a rout early so the starters can rest up for Nebraska. I'd like to see CJB out by the 3rd quarter. We could win this game splitting 50 carries between the four running backs.

I'm going with 38-10.

Weather may have an impact on scoring. Provided turnover ratio is even or in our favor and we play sound...I like our chances.

Would live to see a rout, but it's not likely.

Despite our dominance, this could be an ugly game if the weather is as bad as it could be.

Hawks - 21
Ridiculous fake bass drum - 0

Meh. Purdue will score a td, but I don't think Iowa's D will have back to back bad weeks. Iowa will pound the rock in bad weather, eating clock so it won't be as bad as it could be. The Hawks coast in this one, winning 38 - 10.

Hawks ride the rails to a 33-17 win. Hawks defense has me concerned but I'm hoping for a big showing from them.

Weather can be a great equalizer, however I still see a victory for Iowa. Based on the weather forecast I'm going to dial down the points for this contest.

Iowa 40
Purdue 15

There is good Purdue, that beat Neb and played NW close. And bad Purdue, which got blown out by ILL. I predict that its Bad Purdue's turn to show up.

Iowa 41, Purdue 17

This game sorta scares me because of the trap factor. Huge day/night in Iowa City last saturday with an up and down the field game, and then a game on a Friday night against Nebraska with the chance to go 12-0. Sandwiched in the middle of those huge games is a Purdue team who occasionally hangs with the better teams like they did against Michigan State.

Heck, most of us fans are already looking past Purdue so it stands to reason that maybe the players are too?

That being said, I think the defense has a lot to prove this weekend after Minnesota hung a bunch of scores on them. I think Iowa looks flat early, and then wakes up at halftime and gets their stuff together, but it will be closer than any of us would like it to be.

Purdue 24
Iowa 45
