Hawks are a lazy, soft screening team, no wonder we dont get open much

I thought Fran's first few teams were pretty good at setting solid screens, curling off of screens with and without the ball, and getting open shots.

I have noticed this year's team doesnt screen well and it seems to not help the offense tremendously.

Compare how the team screens now to a few years ago screening to get Gatens and freshman Marble jump shots.

What have you noticed?

I think we need to see some hard screens, we miss the big guy from Sioux City, and we need Woody setting screens at the elbow.

It's not the screens (Iowa is great at setting moving screens, btw), it's how players run past them.
They need to run hard and close to the screener for maximum effect.

This team is supposed to be running a motion offense but many times I've watched there isn't much motion except someone dribbling the ball to death while the others stand around and watch. This team seems to be very mentally soft right now and the N.Florida coach nailed it in his post game comments. Not every shot is going to go in. Get over it and nail the next one. Quit your moping, play tough defense, go get a rebound and make the next one. Need to have a short memory and not much of a conscience to play this game at a high level. As the great MJ says, paraphrasing here: the reason I'm so successful is because I'm willing to fail.

Lazy? Reminds me of this, from the 35 second mark to the end. :p
