I know there is a lot of disappointment with the season given all the expectations but as Iowa fans you can't take forgranted the fact that the Iowa is a first-class program, starting with the staff.
Of course there has been some off the field junk in year's past and I'm not saying they're all choir boys (hopefully this alleged locker room "fight" doesn't prove it self to be true) but for the most part I am always impressed with how the Hawks handle themselves on and off the field.
Sounds like some Hawks and KOK personally reached out to the young man and it seems like the players/coaches do a lot of positive things with the platform they have. I too get frustrated with the losses and sometimes second guess this or that but please don't take what Iowa has for granted.
We've been lucky to see a lot of success on the field and have seen Hawks go on to successful NFL careers. We all know the numbers and where that puts them nationally.
Also:
You don't see Ferentz or his staff acting like lunatics on the sidelines (Pelini, Stoops, Bill Lynch)
You don't read about Hawkeyes involved in recruiting scandals (USC, Auburn, rest of the SEC)
You don't hear about players complaining about the officiating on Facebook (Nebraska)
Even after tough losses the Iowa players conduct themselves well in post game interviews and typcially say the right things throughout the week.
You don't see Iowa players getting personal fouls, complaining to the refs all game or blatantly taunting opponents
We could go on and on with the all the positives...
Marathon post but I hate to see Iowa fans so consumed with the negativity and all of the over-reaction...I guess it is a message board. I know big time college football come down to wins and losses but be proud that Iowa is a first class program, not perfect by any means but not many other programs have what the Hawks posses.
Now let's turn it loose on the Gophers and pitch another shutout!
