Hawkeyes Learn Big Ten Schedules for '22-25

So why did they even drop it for 2 years in the first place???
"Iowa in 2024 hosts Northwestern, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Nebraska, while visiting Purdue, Rutgers, Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota"

If that's not a 10 win season I dont know what is.
That was my first thought as well lol

I really hope we add some decent OOC games that year. Not the kind of schedule that gets you in the playoff conversation, even if we were to win a conference championship.

Get Wisconsin, then Nebraska back-to-back twice during those years. Both at Kinnick as well.

Rutgers really doesn't belong in the Big Ten. How can you take them, and overlook big market schools like Pitt or Mizzou? I don't get it. Yeah, I remember "New York TVs" blah blah blah. I'm not buying that Rutgers is helping get TVs in the east. Maryland? Yes. But not Rutgers

Here’s a look at the new protected crossovers that play every year:

  • Illinois & Penn State
  • Indiana & Purdue
  • Iowa & Rutgers
  • Maryland & Northwestern
  • Michigan & Nebraska
  • Michigan State & Minnesota
  • Ohio State & Wisconsin
WTF? How did Iowa end up with Rutgers? Did Iowa actually request that?

How selections happened per the Chicago Tribune.

"The ADs decided that for the next six-year schedule block (2022-27), the annual crossovers should be randomly assigned."

“The prevailing mood,” Big Ten Associate Commissioner Mike McComiskey said, “was that the group didn’t want us picking who was going to be good that far out; you don’t know.”

"When administrators met in Rosemont for spring meetings, two jars were placed on a table and school names were pulled from each until the six new annual crossover matchups were selected."

---

Ugh that is just a terrible way to pick a team that you are going to play 6 straight years.

As a hawk fan I hate the thought of drawing Rutgers, but in the same breath I love the fact that OSU has Wiscy and Nebby has Michigan those same years makes the West seem a bit more winnable.

Whatever on Rutgers being our every year...I am just happy to see that Wisconsin has OSU annually.

What is worse for me is the future non-conference slate of games. If you were alive before the series with ISU resumed there was more opportunities to play the likes of Notre Dame, Texas Christian, etc. As someone about to turn 71 the recently released non con schedule basically ends any hope of ever seeing quality opponents other than ISU on the schedule. And I am being kind when I list ISU as a quality opponent. They, after all, are listed as a power five team.
