Iowa added three preferred walk-ons to its '18 recruiting class this weekend. It also impressed a few other PWO targets:

"Goose Lake Northeast High tight end Luke Empen (6-7, 230), West Des Moines Dowling Catholic linebacker Mitchell Riggs (6-2, 225) and Waukee High offensive lineman Kyle Sorenson (6-6, 250) chose the Hawkeyes ahead of opportunities from other schools.

Empen caught 51 passes for 598 yards and six touchdowns as a senior. Iowa State, Drake, Northern Illinois, and Minnesota State also recruited him."
