Hawkeyes in the NFL Week 8: James Ferentz Steps In for Patriots

Good to see all the former Hawkeyes contributing but what happened to Josh Jackson? I thought Green Bay cleaned house in their secondary to make more room for players like Josh.

Bryan Bulaga probably can't finish his breakfast without injuring something. I hope this doesn't catch up to him in later life.

Ben Niemann will forever be known as the poster boy in "The Flick" that Aaron Rodgers pulled off in the corner of the end zone in Kansas City. Niemann was wearing Jamaal Williams like an old jock strap. Doesn't matter when Rodgers does Aaron Rodgers things.

Hurt his foot early on this year, and I've read a couple places that he's been overtaken on the depth chart.

Also read that he's in the doghouse penalty-wise. Last year he was tied for the most penalties on the team (ironically he was tied with Bulaga), and this year in the limited snaps he's played he's had 2 penalties.

I'd say there's a 99% chance you see him in a different uniform pretty soon.

GB has drafted pretty well in the defensive backfield the last 2 years and they've also used quite a few picks there. There are some FAs that have moved ahead of JJ too.

2 years is awfully quick to move on from a 2nd round pick but it wouldn't surprised me to see him get released or traded if they can get something for him. I'd say if he's on GBs roster a year from now it will be his last year there if he does't make a serious move up the depth chart.

Watch it be the Vikings!

All those penalties tell me he could have used his senior year, regardless of how high his stock was after 2017.

Amari Spievey, another early entry, had a similar issue in Detroit.

Unlike offensive players, defensive players at Iowa tend to get better and better under Phil's tutilege, especially defensive backs. Watch Jake Gervase end up having the better NFL career.

Obviously, NFL players want to get paid as soon as possible for the punishment their brains and bodies take. Their clocks are ticking, the sand runs very fast through their hourglass.

I was doing stuff around the house and heard Tony Romo mention Ferentz but I think he pronounced it more like FRRENTZZZ and I thought it would be funny if Romo called a Hawkeye game and started calling the plays like then the quarterback calls an audible Romo could say something like "This looks like a zone run to right...." or something.
