Honestly, KF should bring a microwave into the filmroom and melt the tape in front of the team and move on.

yep, it is just that bad. Glad he sees that it is a systemic problem, and guess what everyone, it isn't going to go away with a change at QB next season.

believe we had about a 3500% increase from 2 to 70

Not that many. If we had simply intercepted/returned for TD or caused a fumble/returned for TD on three of PSU's touchdown scoring drives, we are right there.

Pretty close ballgame when you think of it like that, huh?

I mean when you put it like that, why is everyone complaining? We about had this one in the bag. Must have been a clock management issue.

I was over the game with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter as I was already back at our tailgate drinking a beer, reading this just got me ****** again. Thanks for that.

I really wonder if other coaches scouting us just laugh when watching our tape.

After 14 years, the inside joke among the other Big Ten coaches is to continue to praise Iowa for not offering any surprises on offense, just keep complimenting the Hawks on doing a great job of executing. Sublime.

I'm saying this seriously, I think Bobby Diacco would make a heack of a head coach at Iowa. He seems like he would be an intense coach but one the kids liked and appreciated.

Really enjoy reading HGF breakdown, this just proves what I saw and have been seeing all year. His comment about a high school coach stopping Iowa was spot on.

As usual, a very good break-down from gamefilm. It is hard to overstate how far JVB as regressed - the reads and mechanics are not one-step back but multiple. I don't disagree on the Ferentz influence on formations and play-calling, but I honestly don't know what you do as the OC if you have a QB who can't do the most basic things right now and a HC who won't bring in the next guy? I'm not saying GDavis is doing a great job, far from it, but if I were in the same situation I'm not sure how I would go about fixing this situation.

I've been a supporter of KF and seeing things for the bigger picture, but the bigger picture says we are regressing. The team has been less consistent, less fundamental and more of a scramble. That being said, I look at the progress of the o-line, d-line, play of the LB's, Weisman, special teams improvement in kick return and kick coverage - and there has been some real positives this year. It is simply too much for the team to overcome this passing game and QB on a regular basis. The HC has to take that blame - whether that means his job probably goes for another season.

Thing is, the offensive WAS sending targets downfield in earlier games, which JVB kept ignoring or missing. Gameplan and others were quite complimentary, and putting the onus on JVB to find the targets. Sounds like we've got away from that.

The comment about our "heavy package" telegraphing our intentions and inviting 10-in-the-box every time was devastating.

It seems like, though a small sample size, we have a pretty high success rate throwing it downfield to Davis and either getting PI called or a completion. How is it not evident in film to the coaches that they need to throw it downfield not only to stretch the field but to open up the running game and underneath routes? We are getting beat by very elementary concepts that we can't figure out.

It also seems like many times, a play is checked out of and we run right/run left/3 yard pass play, is that more on the QB or Davis? Lastly, I have never seen a team throw the ball short of the sticks more than we do on 3rd down, doesnt matter if it is 3rd and 5 or 3rd and 12, you can bet at least 1 receiver will run a few yards short of the chains and he is almost always the one targeted. Sad.
