Hawkeyes' 1-2 Punch at Running Back Working Well So far

The Akrum Wadley-James Butler backfield partnership has worked out well for the Hawkeyes. Iowa's dynamic backfield duo is off to a fast start:

What excites me the most, besides the fact we are seeing on the field together more and more, is that they are both clearly team first guys.
There will come a game where Butler will be more effective than Wadley, and Akrum will celebrate James' success as much as James has celebrated Wadley's.

Great teammates and great Hawkeyes.

I'm looking forward to Butler getting more touches actually... I figured they'd be out there together a little more than they have too. I think keeping Wadleys touches under 25 a game should be a priority... Closer to 20 the better. Butler can certainly handle more then the 10 or so he's gotten per game. And mixing in Young sure wouldn't hurt either on some short yardage situations.

I think they're planning on moving in that direction, but with the win in Ames last Saturday being of the utmost importance, and considering that Wadley is our most dynamic playmaker, I don't think they were worried about the number of touches he received.

I'm thinking Wadley's usage is fairly limited this upcoming Saturday with Butler getting the lion's share of the workload. And I expect Torren Young to get his first carries of the season as well.

Wadley needs more catches and Butler needs more carries. That's my opinion anyway. If you give Wadley 5 less carries, but give him 3 more passes per game that gets him out in space...sign me up.
Me too and if you made those numbers even a tad higher I'd be even more ok with it. I'm also glad they stopped having him return kicks.. It's not like we don't have other guys capable of that. If we have guys fumbling or making mistakes out there doing it then ok I guess put him back but as long as who we put back there doesn't fumble (go out of bounds inside the 5) or any other blatant mistake I'm down with others being back there instead.
