Game of the week:
Maybe the game of the year in the whole midwest. 9-0 St. Edwards of Lakewood, OH, which features DB Solomon Warfield, is ranked #25 in the nation by MaxPreps.com. They'll take on 9-0 St. Ignatius of Cleveland, who's ranked #3 in America. This game will feature at least 3 BCS-conference recruits in the 2013 class, as well as one of the top OL in the midwest in the 2014 class, St. Ignatius' Jimmy Byrne.

Wednesday scores:
Cedar Falls 22, Davenport Central 0 FINAL

I don't have any numbers yet, but I'm betting that if his team put up 79 points, Shimonek had a pretty good night.

Shimonek has 515 yards rushing after 8 games with 20 TD's threw the air and 1o on the ground for total of 30 TD'S with just 4 turnovers, 2 of which came in the 1st game a loss to defending 2A Champ.
on the year he is avg 194 yards thru the year and the team is avg 284 on the ground for a total output of 478 ypg

Andre Harris, WR, Kirkwood, MO

Off the bye, Kirkwood (Scott Poholsky, William Ennis-Inge) in a rematch with Hazelwood East (Don Schumpert and Christian Kirksey)....1 catch for 27 yards. 2 kickoff returns for 42 yards. No picks on the other side of the line. The announcers were talking like he might have been injured/shaken up, but they're horrible announcers and so there's really no telling. Kirkwood wins 33-12.

This sets up a HUGE District Final game on Monday against Webster Groves (Adrian Clayborn). Normally these two teams play on Thanksgiving Day outside of the regular season...even when they were in different classes. It's been going on for over 100 years and had a 4 page spread in SI covering the history a few years ago. Kind of a big deal. It'll be strange playing for something other than pride and posession of an old locomotive bell for the victor and not on Thanksgiving. I'll probably go.

I watched Cedar Falls play in the Dome against Cedar Rapids Kennedy. Was interested to watch a few of the Tigers that Iowa is targeting:

TE Ike Boettger, Cedar Falls--Had one pass catch for 23 yards. Was more a factor in defense at Defensive end.

OT Ross Pierschbacher--He played left tackle. Except for when they went with an unbalanced line (moving him to the right side), the Tiger offense seemed to run away from him. Was excepting to see them run right behind this kid. Granted, this is the only game that I have seen him play, so maybe they saw something on the opposite side of Kennedy's line?
