In a non Covid world, this would have been the off-season that the entire team could have taken their overseas trip.
Teams can do those trips, which have nothing to do with Olympic Games, Pan American Games, World Games, etc. once every four years and based off Iowa's last experience with a team overseas trip, perhaps it's just as well. For two weeks all they did was beat up on tomato cans and it may have been the vanguard of an ugly 2018 season that should have cost Fran his job.
Fran has since redeemed himself but many an AD would have sacked a coach that produced a team that played poorly, didn't stand up for itself on the floor, gave lackadaisical effort, and treated defense like it was a disease. I went to the Indiana game that year and couldn't believe what I was seeing.
