I think in the '19 class, one thing we are seeing is the result of a renewed emphasis on recruiting that started about 2 or 3 seasons ago. The Iowa staff has been much more proactive in its efforts. You also hear Kirk discussing recruiting much more than the past.
It appears to be paying off right now and that's exciting. I have to admit, though, that I don't like our chances with Duggan. If I had to guess right now, it will be PSU or Nebraska. Bell and the two kids from Omaha will be extremely tough gets as well. I do like our chances with Brock. The staff has worked hard on developing a good relationship with him and it very well could pay off.

I totally agree about the renewed emphasis on recruiting. I think that last 3 years have seen an uptick in recruiting, and that already showed up for Iowa in the '17 season. In how many years could Iowa have lost 2 RS SR. starting offensive tackles, and plugged in 2 FR. that at least still gave the team a chance to win? We had youth on the both lines (Jackson, Wirfs, AJ, Lattimore), we had youth at the TE and WR spots, we had youth at QB, we had youth at safety who had to step in as well.
Agree with Hawks upping their efforts on the recruiting front in the last few years. Yes, they are being more aggressive than ever but let's realize that, in part, they've been pushed in that direction by those that were more aggressive than themselves in year's earlier.
Much like the facilities wars are, the recruiting front has been taking a similar route...........you're playing catch-up to dedicate more resources and time to this element to try to obtain an edge vs. competitors.

I'd say the offer lists of these guys are the biggest indicator of where our recruiting is headed. Most of these guys we got in early on blew up not too long after, which speaks to both the eye for talent this staff has, and what other recruiting staffs think of their evaluation. Very excited about the future of Hawkeye recruiting.
No biggie, I wasn't sure if it was on my end or yours. And, HELL YES. The fact that he already has friends coming to play for Iowa and teammates being recruited by them, coupled with Kelvin Bell's success in Indiana makes me think we have a real shot at him. Would be a game-changer. Thanks Rob.

Anyone heard which way Campbell is leaning? Would have to think we have the edge as we've had some really good LBs at Iowa recently.

FWIW, I heard from someone who knows the family peripherally that it's probably "80-90% Iowa," but he is getting the hard press from MN and ISU.
