Chad L., who I really enjoy reading, has an interesting article on Brian F. and play calling. Give it a read.

Its a sorta interesting article. However, Iowa's offense is currently ranked 82nd in the country at 393 yards per game. 95th in the country if you go by points per game. Those are the numbers that really matter at the end of the day, and currently they are not good, nor are they any real improvement from last season.

Fun fact, Iowa State's offense is currently ranked 122 out of 129. Supposedly they have the best RB in the country and stud WR's....just ask their fans

Just gonna throw this out there.

Last year: Iowa's SOS was 10th; Iowa's Total Offense was ranked 116th

So far this year: Iowa's SOS is 42nd; Iowa's Total Offense is ranked 82nd.

If we can just get our SOS down to about 100th, we'll have a top 20 offense.

Agreed. Nothing earth shattering in that article. The results you have highlighted are the important measuring tools of BF and KF. Poor offensive production continues. lack of legit WRs is the achilles heel of yet another Iowa offense under KF. Another Parker defense carrying the water on game day. Rinse and repeat.

I'm...sorta...willing to allow for the fact that Iowa State and Wisconsin have decent defenses and the season is still sorta young. But I haven't seen much of anything that indicates the Iowa offense has the ability to be explosive.

Minnesota gave up 42 points and 430 yards to Maryland 2 weeks ago. So Iowa has no excuse for only putting up 17 points on them like they did last year

Yup. That is what I meant. Thanks for answering my questions. Oh wait. Guess not. Typical.
I know you try to outbest him, but nobody is a bigger fan of the Ferentz family than Chad Leistikow. Not even Kirk himself is a bigger fan. This is an undeniable fact.

I don't even pay much attention to it any more. KF is who he is and he's not gonna make whole sale changes. That's my opinion. BF is getting paid way too much to learn on the job to be an OC. He only got the position because he's KF's son. That's also my opinion.

Do you think he has the make up that with experience he can do a good job?

Possibly. Calling plays during game situations takes a certain kind of individual. You have to be able to focus on the game and not the individuals. Then you have to change your play calls to fit what's working and what's not working. If you want to be successful in close games. A lot of coaches get caught up focusing on position groups or certain match ups. It's a strange concept but I know that I do much better seeing the game and recognizing the proper adjustments, when I am not directly involved with coaching the players on the field/court. I think that's probably why a lot of OC/DC's like to sit up in the coaches box during games. It removes them from the interpersonal situation with the individual players and allows them to see the big picture in action, if you will.

Basically agree. I think that KF naturally focuses on execution and not the big picture.
