Correct, for anyone who played in 2020 (no matter if a freshman or senior), that year does not count against your eligibility.
Iowa has a couple pretty important super-seniors this year (ZVV, Hankins, Shudak), but they don't have many overall. Some of the seniors on the 2-deep who could come back next year:
Schott
Charlie Jones
IKM
Moss
Koerner
As you can see, not a lot of seniors in the 2-deeps.
I was thinking IKM was a super senior this year because it seems like he has been around forever, but thinking it through, I guess you are right.
2017 - Wadley was starting. IKM played as true freshman
2018 - IKM was originally the starter as true soph, got hurt, Sargent took over as starter
2019 - Sargent was starter at first, then later Goodson took over as starter, IKM got hurt early and took a redshirt year sitting out rest of the year.
2020 - Goodson is the starter, Sargent is main backup, IKM plays very little as redshirt junior. This year does not count against eligibility.i
2021- Goodson is the starter. IKM is main backup as redshirt senior
2022 - IKM could play as a super senior if he wants
So I guess he had 3 years in a row with injury problems, 2018-2020, so it just seemed like his eligibility should be up, but I was wrong.
