For the most part, the defense stepped up when it had to. Graves, Sharar, Entringer and Lutmer all had solid games. ISU got lucky on the final drive but that's just how it goes. Kudos to them. That tipped pass was a killer.
What is odd is where were our defensive ends? Llewellyn and Hurkett are two of the best players on the unit and were MIA for the most part. Are ISU's tackles really that good?
It wasn't all pretty. Hawthorne got used and abused in the first quarter and didn't see much action the rest of the way. Pace and Pittman alternated after that.
And, sorry, I know that Jaden Harrell waited his turn to get an opportunity to start, but, after viewing the tape, the coaches have to see that one of the young guys deserves a shot. He made a nice play to dislodge the ball, but that play aside, his angles are terrible and he's not a sure tackler. Anyone who taped the game and re-watches it should key on him and you'll see what I mean.
