Has Brommer improved?

Most have come to the conclusion that Cougill's ineligibility is an opportunity for Brommer. He's not going to be a big scorer but he can run the floor and play defense when he hasn't fouled out due to moving his hands more than his feet. Is there any evidence that this has improved in the PTL?

If we can get 15-20 productive minutes out of Brommer we'll be all right. Cole can handle the rest of the minutes (albeit undersized). Basabe and McCabe split the PF spot. If Brommer can rebound, run and finish, and protect the rim without fouling he will be an asset. He is a better athlete than basketball player hopefully he can do those things.

I too would like to get 15-20 minutes out of Brommer. In fact I think we need them from him. Cole averaged 25 min/game last year (most of any 4-5 on the team) with over 3 fouls/game. Especially with knee issues, I don't think we can expect many more minutes out of him- maybe less in a running game. This is why I was asking if Brommer is any better with moving his feet on defense. I don't think he could stay on the court 15 a game this year the way he fouled on D last year.

I agree with Basabe/McCabe splitting the 4. However, if Brommer/Cole can't supply 40 min/game, we're obviously either going to have Archie play some 5 (help us God if he can only give what he is in the PTL) or Basabe slide over for some minutes there.

its threads like this that remind me how far away we are from being relevant again

Anyone know if there is another potential walk-on somewhere that might want to compete for playing time in the low post? Reality has shown that we seldom make it through the entire season without at least 1 big missing a game or two due to injury.

...and to think just a few short weeks ago most folks were poppin' Pepto left and right wondering how we'd survive an injury at point guard.

Next year is likely to be worse than last. I would honestly be surprised to see us get to 11 wins again.

You are going to be pleasantly surprised. :)

As for Brommer, I've heard a couple of times that his attitude and intensity are much better since FM took over and he's making some strides.

As I was told...."The lightbulb hasn't turned on yet...but at least he's flipping the switch."

Archie has to play now. He needs to earn that scholly,or hit the road next year.
Brommer and Archie need to lock themselves in the gym for the next 3 months and emerge with skills...ball skills...and some edge, mean edge. Dallas Lauderdale is waiting to take their lunch money. So is Colt Iverson,Sampson,JuJuan Johnson,Nankavil,Leuer,Mike Davis,JJ Sullinger,DeAndre Thomas, Nix,Adrien Payne, and Delvon Roe.....oh man...this could get ugly in the league season...man up-Brommer and Archie!!!

We will exceed wins by 5-6. Just because of style. If Lick would have taken the chains off last year we would have won that many more.

He could easily set the record this year for most personal fouls in a season, even if he doesn't get a lot of minutes. A dubious honor, but still, he'll be in the record books.

I've wondered, too, whether that wouldn't have been the case. They sure seemed to play better when Lick was out sick and towards the end when Lick sort of gave up trying to impose his (banned word beginning with s) during games.
