Harrison Barnes

Just read on espn that hes finishing up workouts with the charlotte bobcats. Which got me thinking, does this kid have the talent to turn around a lower level team like the bobcats or cleveland, or at least help one of those teams? Charlotte has the #2 pick and I believe cleveland has #3. He was unstoppable in ames, but I dont think he was the best player on the floor at unc, to many other #1 recruits.

This is not assuming that hes going to be a top 5 draft pick though.

I know one thing for certain: harrison barnes is no BRON.

I think he has the talent to turn around a team but I don't know if he will. At times at UNC he was great and looked like the best player in college. like when he went for 40 last year in the ACC tournament then other times he just appeared to plant himself at the three point line and not do much.

Harrison's issues have always seemed twofold. Handle, and killer instinct. He seems to not trust his handle enough to try and break a man off the dribble, so he settles for the jumpers or needs a well timed pass or tip in to get points in the lane. He also seemed very willing to let the others on his team take the big shots.

Now he does a ton of things well. If he can play the two or three he is very tall and long(I think he measured 6-8 with good arm length at the combine). He is a better ahtlete than commenters give him credit for, and is not afraid to do the dirty work. If his handle improves he is a very credible shooting guard who should be able to hit deep jumpers, and post up the smaller guards. He is a top 5 pick, but he may not be the difference maker he was thought to be leaving HS. But I look at this draft and I don't see any Durants or James, Wades, or Westbrooks. Anthony Davis is like a slightly more developed Andrew Bynum. He is long and athletic, but his handle and shooting are not close to where they need to be, and he is a traditional big man, which is slowly dying. I think Barnes is as good as any in the draft.

i would like to see him in cleveland with kyrie irving. i think that combo could turn the cavs around. then get a solid big and they could be pretty tough.

He's just a more athletic version of whos your daddy battier. He can have a nice career but won't be a star or number one option. If he is than his team will stink.

It would be funny if Lebron goes back to Cleveland in a couple years when he can enter free agency because they will have a lot of young talent on the team, more talent than he had when he was there. Maybe that is his realy master plan. He left cleveland so they could stink and get lottery picks and then he rejoins them. That is why he still has a house in Ohio.

The Bobcats probably throw darts on who they are going to pick so Barnes could be a possibility. HB > Adam Morrison and they took him higher than any other team would have years ago.

i have heard people say barnes is the safest pick as he doesnt have the ceilieng others do but he has a has a higher floor. i have seen him projected as the 4th pick. i believe that is the cavs and as i said before that is a good fit...harrison needs a pg to set him up and irving is about as good as you can ask for.

I think it is still really hard to predict who is going to pan out in the NBA besides obvious guys like Lebron.

Barnes could be similar to Peirce.

I heard the Gasol rumors a while ago but haven't heard anything lately. I think the Bulls are going to try and move Deng but since he needs wrist surgery it is going to be hard.

Barnes is a rich man's Battier or Luol Deng. When Marshall went out last year he looked god awful. He'll have a long NBA career but he's nothing but a role player on a playoff team.

I think people are underrating Barnes. Another guy that I think people are underrating is Perry Jones.

Perry Jones is soft. He is highly skilled but he sees himself as some sort of stretch 4. I think both he and Barnes are going to be in the league a long time but they will be minimal impact players. Just my opinion obviously.

Luol Deng is a much better player than Battier. Battier is a bench player, and Deng is an all-star. Barnes would be lucky to have the career of Deng.
