Harrison Barnes: Pre-Season All-American

It's not surprising that Harrison Barnes is on the AP Pre-Season All-American team. Barnes is the best Iowa high school basketball player, ever. If you compare Barnes to any other players that played in Iowa in high school or college over the past several years, Barnes compares favorably and projects as well as any of them in the pros: Jeff Grayer, Jeff Hornacek, Lewis Lloyd, BJ Armstrong, Roy Marble, Kevin Gamble, Matt Bullard, Fred Hoiberg, Loren Meyer, Marcus Fizer, Jamal Tinsley, Ricky Davis, Ryan Bowen, Nick Collison, Raef LaFrentz, Kirk Heinrich, and others. Barnes is the most complete player that this state has ever seen, he probably would have been a first round NBA pick had he decided to go that route, and he has the talent to make the next USA Basketball Olympic team.

Right now on the mock drafts,he is listed as the #1 pick in the draft for 2011,so yes, I believe he would have been a first rounder if he came out his year, altho not an option anymore...probably would have been top 5.

He is clearly a unique talent for Iowa prep bb...or prep bb anywhere,as he is the first player to ever make the 1st Team AA list before ever setting foot on a college court.
Lebron would have also,I presume, but that is it. Should be a hawkeye...sigh.

All-American before playing his first collegiate game? Laughable projection in my book but I'm no 'expert'. I will project some incredible efforts on the part of opponents to make him prove it. He's not going to be playing in Iowa anymore.
