I was watching the game with my father last night. First time in years. It was hard to do, because I was kind of shocked with his take on the game more than anything else. The ranting about lack of effort, stupidity in scheme, and frustration in execution were unbelievable... but I'm seeing a lot of that on the board this AM, as well.
My take on the game is that the Hawks had some really bad breaks to over come in execution, and that special teams are not settled yet. I'm really not familiar with Coach Darryl Wilson, but I feel for him after that game, and the pressure he will be under the next two weeks. One thing I feel great about is the talent and leadership on the Hawks is commendable, because the game really could have gotten out of hand last night, ala ASU in 2004, and I never got the sense that it would (despite my father's rantings). I'm really proud of the fight the team put up in such adversity, and I look for them to get on track in the coming weeks...
Go Hawks.
