Haffar Commits

Hawkeyes Grab Juco WR; Iowa Central Kicker To Walk On | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Local

From article:

“They [Iowa coaches] said the best man is going to play,” Haffar told HawkeyeReport.com. “They think I can compete with the two kickers they have now, Mike Meyer and Marshall Koehn, and if I can beat them, I’ll be the starter and be put on scholarship.”

“Most likely I’m going to redshirt this year and then I’ll have two years to play,” Haffar said. “I’m not 100% sure though because I know they are really looking for a guy that can put the ball in the end zone on kickoffs and that’s one of my strengths. At Iowa Central this year, I had 33 of 47 in the end zone for touchbacks.”

They could go about it like they did punting this year, one for strength and the other for accuracy.. I don't know anything about this kid but if getting it to the ends one "isn't one of my strengths," and he still has the possibility of a scholarship, then I'm guessing he's gotta money with finesse (short field goals, onside kicks, etc.)

I think you misunderstood what Haffar said, or I'm misunderstanding what you are saying. He said it IS his strength to kick it into endzone

Enough derp in this thread to heat the city of Ankeny for a week.
