I realized what's going on.
I wanna and do still like Kirk. Yes, he's been overly loyal. That being said, it is now combined with advancing age. And let me tell you what men who are used to control do when they age. They just dig in deeper and become more stubborn. To the point of extreme stubborninity.
That's Kirk now.
As a side note, start working with your parents now. Don't wait. You dont have to move them, but get them to start envisioning what life might look like and what they want when it comes. Have a plan A, B, C and probably a D. Learn the lingo of assisted living/memory care/skilled nursing and the nuances they entail. And how they can vary from one community to another. Most exhausting month of my life.
And now I have to deal with it in football.
But, I do still love my dad. And Kirk.
