Guillen done with ChiSox?

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen gathered his players before Monday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays and told them that it would be his final one, according to sources close to the situation.
Guillen met with team chairman Jerry Reinsdorf earlier Monday, and he said he left the meeting with "nothing."

Guillen's contract is set to expire after the 2012 season. About a month ago he said he wouldn't return for the final year of his contract unless he gets an extension.

As a ChiSox fan, this is great news.

Not really. I'm a White Sox fan too, but changing managers really doesn't do much unless it comes with personnel changes. Managing a baseball game at the major league level is so volatile. Managing relationships and egos is really the responsibility of the manager. Ozzie had great relationships with his players. In his years on the south-side I can only recall two public issues between him and a player: Frank Thomas and Bobby Jenks. Obviously, it will be nice that the cold war standoff between him and Kenny Williams will be over but nothing will change unless the Sox stop signing players like the Cubs do, because we've been very Cub-like as of late (see Alex Rios, Jake Peavy, Adam Dunn).

What the hell is wrong with you? I'll be rocking by Guillen South Side jersey til I die.

This man took us to the world series. This is horrible news; Kenny f'n Williams is the one who should have been traded.

Exactly. Kenny deserves to be the GM of that team on the north side with the job he's been doing lately.

I'm a sox fan too, but how many years can we hear that it may be his last year? He hinted to it a month ago, then said he wanted to be back, now saying he may be leaving. At some point, you have to cut the cord.

Yes, he won it all for us. Much credit to him and the team. I guess we could have taken care of things and signed him, but it didn't happen. While I don't get it, his reaction wasn't good for the team. Yes, I know that is his personality, but it is what it is.

It seems like he always wanted to end up with the Marlins, which is fine with me. JMHO

I agree with this too. Ozzie was a tired act, especially in his relationship with Kenny. I don't think this hurts the Sox but I don't think there are many managers that could do better with the players that he was given by Kenny. Kenny needs to start doing a better job before any success comes to the Sox.

I like Ozzie but his time had come, he and his spoiled brat kid had worn out their welcome and their lame everybody is out to get us/hates us routine was getting old.

Hey leave us Cubs fans out of this. :) ......even though I would have taken Williams over Hendry any day of the week.

I would also take Guillen as the Cubs skipper anytime as well.
