I really think this GaTech -4.5 line is an excellent opportunity. Statistically this is the best defense Georgia Tech has faced. When we've struggled against the run it was either against big bruising offensive lines and skilled RB's or (Wisconsin first half and Ohio State), or it was against spread running attacks (Iowa State, Michigan, Ohio State).
Georgia Tech's offensive line is nothing to write home about and they don't run out of the shotgun option spread. They pack 8 or 9 players between the hashes and run an old fashion option that entails a twist - backfield motion.
The fact that they rely on big plays from their passing game also plays into our favor. Their passing attack is not a quick 4-7 yard pass attack. As we've seen historically that is how teams have had success passing the ball agaisnt us. It's quick and its usually little stops or slants.
I just think that their style vs. our style is a recipe for disaster for that type of offense. Give Norm longer than a month to prepare and that's just icing on the cake.
I see them getting into lots of 3rd and 5+ situations in the first half. As soon as they fall behind by two scores they'll be one dimension. With a shorter athletic QB, one go-to receiver, and an offense that ranks 2nd in the nation is rushing.... the minute they go one-dimensional the game is over.
I predict Iowa 34 - Ga Tech 10. They finish with under 175 rushing and 3 TO's.
