Greg Davis retires!

Hey, that song came out the same year that Greg Davis last had an innovative thought about offense. I guess it's better than Happy Days Are Here Again, circa 1920s-30s.

I see no need to pile on the man.
I will give you this, my best guess is that he saw the inevitable, or at least knew the temperature in the room, and he did Ferentz a favor by retiring, whether fully volitional or not we'll not know, so he should be commended for that. It could have been a lot uglier end.

The rest is just blowing off some steam.

Thanks for the only 12-0 regular season in Iowa history, Greg. Sincerely hope you enjoy a long and happy retirement.

The man won a national championship, set a then record for points per game at over 50, helped coach Iowa to a record number of wins, a record for most consecutive 30+ point conference games and by all accounts was a really good guy.

However, he was just never a good fit here and it's good to see that we'll get new blood and hopefully fresh ideas.

I will do the hindsight thing on this one. I need to see what the Iowa offense looks like moving forward. I did this with kok and his 60th rated offense would have looked good the last 3 years. I will be a wuss, GD needed to go, but I don't know if KF will ever "figure this out".
