Greatest Day In Nebraska Football History is Today

This has their fanbase thinking playoffs now. The best part about this would be seeing them get looked over despite the win requirements being waived...now that would be an ultimate slap in the face to that fanbase.

The ol' Joey Backslap strategy of selecting lower tier bowl participants will get tossed this year and any lower tier bowl that is going to happen (which I suspect won't be too many) will be entirely dictated by ESPN and fanbase size/TV draw. Travelling fan numbers will be irrelevant.

That's actually might happen. Nebraska could easily get shut out from the bowls if they finish 2-8. The Big ten only has so many bowl tie ins and the Redbox Bowl has already been canceled. The other bowls also have tie-ins with other conferences where they have take teams from other conferences first.

Nebraska's best chance may be that a lot of mediocre teams simply decide to sit out the bowl season this year, opening up a slot for 2-8 Nebraska.

I can't understand with everything going on why a mediocre team would even consider going to a bowl game this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but down most universities actually take a financial loss attending bowl games. I just don't see how a program that's already lost millions in revenue and facing financial hardships would go out of their way accepting an invitation to a bowl game in which they'll end up costing them more money to attend.

I'm super excited to see the battle of the worst B10 team on championship day. Who will emerge victorious? Nebraska or Rutgers?

I'd love to see them extend this tradition of the E/W matchups every year, I can't say no to more football! What a great idea it was.

I think the real key is to stay COVID free and healthy for all of these games. Imagine if COVID goes around the whole OL room, so we are left with playing 2nd and 3rd stringers. I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose to IL if something like that happened.

Or the QB room?
