I was at the game tonight. Iowa played as hard as a team can play. Eric May had a terrific floor game, shutting down UNI's leading scorer in the second half. The UNI coach was very complimentary of Iowa's defensive effort after the game. Iowa constantly changed their defenses, causing UNI all kinds of problems because they run so many set plays.
This was a game that Lickliter would have lost. McCaffrey found a way to win. He prepares solid game plans and scouts beautifully. We finally have a great coach at Iowa again. The kids feed off of his intensity and really play hard. They are buying in and giving great effort. It is so refreshing to watch - I wish the Iowa fans would get behind this team.
This was a big win tonight for an extremely young team. Friday could be electric - I hope Iowa fans turn out and fill up the arena. This young team needs a packed Carver.
