great spacing on offense, quick closeouts on defense

Michigan still had a lot of really good athletes playing tonight but I thought the hawks spacing on offense and their passing was really great. Maybe just a little bit of overdribbling but they looked like they would make their move and it wasnt there they would pass it quick.

They got a lot of open looks with the crisp passing.

Some of the best zone they have played for awhile and they boxed off well in the zone compared to some recent games.

I would guess Fran saw how the didnt block out against Wisky and how Wisky was really crisp with their passing and offensive movement.

Keep it up hawks, they really look to be playing team ball.
 
I liked the way Iowa played under control as they showed poise and patience.

Michigan didn't look like they were ready to play.
 
I thought Michigan looked sluggish out there. Good news for the Hawks is they didn't waste the opportunity and took advantage of it. Very efficient game all around. Now bring on the turtles.
 
Michigan didn't even seem to go after rebounds on offense. Iowa's height difference allowed them to dominate. The starting five all scoring double digits was amazing, it seemed they all showed up to play. Utoff making shots because he squared up to the rim and didn't fade away. It was a complete game for the Hawks on the road.
 
I figured the OT loss to MSU would have Michigan a little flat but I didn't expect them to be in a coma. But when the crowd tried to get them going Iowa simply handled it. We had a size advantage and we used it. It felt good to be able to relax at the end of a game.
 
The starters got a lot of minutes together, that was good to see. All 27+ mins, Oglesby should barely be playing at this point, keep the starters in more unless fouls are an issue.

Mikey G is also playing more consistent basketball as of late. He's attacking quicker and adding a pump move to avoid getting swatted. He's also kicking it out more when he drives when in the past he'd force it. A consistent player at that position really gets the Hawks going.

Also nice seeing White get on the block and position himself under the basket with the mismatch. Woody needs to do more of that. He's still getting the ball too far from the basket, although he still had one of his better games.

I had mentioned that in another thread. It is obvious who the best players are on this squad, and they should all log 30+ min a night (Gesell, Jok, White, Uthoff) with Uthoff and White getting 35 MPG. You play the hot hand of Woody or Gabe, and you get 10 min a piece for uhl, Clemmons, and Ogs.

Great formula, and the offensive & defensive consistency with this rotation was night and day better from playing Clemmons and Ogs extended min.
 
Michigan had a real chance when they cut it from 18 to 9, but then Iowa SHUT THE DOOR.

Past teams probably blow it at that point. It was great to see.....

Exactly what I was thinking. In the 2nd half when he subbed 4 starters at once you could immediately see the difference. Michigan started to climb back into the game. When the starters came back in they buried them.
