Here some of my thoughts from last night. Feel free to add any input if you would like.
125: McDonough looked pretty solid against a average at best wrestler. Definately the best he has looked all year. He will continue to get better and I have NO worries about him!!
Grade: B+
133: Ramos was a suprise move in my mind. I thought for sure we would see Moore out there. But Ramos did look pretty good. The only problem is that it was against a average college wrestler at best. That being said Ramos took it to him last night. He actually rode him pretty well and got out from underneath pretty easily.
Grade: B+
141: Ballweg wrestled a very smart match and did enough to win it. HUGE win for him as it will help him with confidence and rankings. I thought he was going to give up a takedown about 3 times and found a way to fight it off and score one of his own on a crazy scramble. I was impressed with him last night.
Grade: A
149: Chiri had a rough night. Actually went after him right away but not a good night. Carr is not that good and Chiri made him look real good last night.
Grade: D-
157: DSJ showed us last night a little piece of what he is all about. He will only get better as the year goes on. He showed a lot of people why the Hawks did not get Weatherman. I can't wait for the DSJ/Taylor showdown!
Grade: A-
165: Probably the biggest disappointment for me of the night!!! I'm not so much upset with the loss due to Sorenson being a bad matchup for Kerr but its how Kerr lost.
Grade: F
174: Lofthouse WILL only get better!!! Reader is a legit contender and could have scored more points and got the major last night but didn't. Ethan is going to be just fine is future is VERY bright!!!!
Grade: C
184: Gambrall took it to a subpar wrestler last night and he seems to be a gammer so to speak. When the lights come on he is ready to roll. Great performance out of him last night!
Grade: A-
197: Lofthouse will always have trouble with Ward guys. Just a bad matchup for him. Ward is going to hard for Luke to beat but Luke could also finish higher at NCAA's.
Grade: C-
Hwt: While some might not feel comfortable about his win last night(myself included) it was pointed out to me last night by a few close friends that was just a bad matchup for him and he did fine.
Grade: B-
Team: Overall not a bad night, I think Kerr's performance is washed out by Ballweg's.
Grade: B-
Let me also say Carew is pretty down right now with his surgery's and its going to be tough for him knowing what he could have done last night and in the future. I tried to cheer him up last night but it didn't work all that well. Great kid with a ton of heart that REALLY wants to be out there and prove all of his doubters wrong!!!
