Mark Gottfried,former Alabama coach, was hired today by NCSt as their new head bb coach.
Gottfried was fired two years ago from Alabama,where one of his signees that was slated to come in the next year was Cully Payne.

Coincidence? Probably...still,funny how these things line up sometimes.
I know that Cully liked Gottfried a lot,and he cited him being fired as his reason for immediately wanting his release.

Interesting hire. I am sure Wolfpack Nation is scratching their heads. I can't see Payne getting an offer in the ACC. He would never see the floor, despite NC State being down. I imagine half the team will leave with Lowe gone, so maybe Tyler Harris gives us another look. Wishful thinking I know.

I think Debbie Yow was reaching the desperation point in this process.
Allegedlly,Maryland's Gary Williams was bad-mouthing Yow to prospective candidates.....ouch. It is game on between Maryland and NCSt now.
