Good Night Sweet Prince: A Brewster Tribute

Frankly I never understood this kind of stuff, especially given that everyone fails at some point. I've failed in a job or two and it is a humbling humbling experience, and one that can be difficult to pick yourself up from.

I understand your point and I too have been there. That being said, in Tim Brewster's case, a little humble pie probably won't make much difference. He has been served plate after plate of humble pie in the last three and a half seasons and continued to behave badly. Although he was known to be very loyal to his players, he was famous for being condescending and/or verbally abusive to those he worked with in the athletic department at Minnesota...including his boss. He threw asst. coaches under the bus not once, not twice but three times in his short tenure at Minnesota to save his job. He was a blowhard coming in and continued to be right through the Wisconsin game last week. There is a reason why BB went for 2 points. I suspect there is a reason why a normally restrained KF let the HAWKS tee off on the goofs in the last game at the Metrodome. Really. Think about it. 55-0. KF? That reason was Brewster himself.

This is really an arrogant, stupid, shameful video. It shows no class to do something like this. I thought we had more class. This is a man with a family who probably feels about as low as a human being can feel right now. His players feel the same way. Give me a break.

This man invested heavily in trying to make Minnesota a winner. I thought he showed a lot of courage and was always gracious in defeat. Is he perfect? Far from it.

Minnesota's problems go a lot deeper than the head coach. Just ask Glen Mason, a truly great college coach who was fired before Brewster.

Stay humble, Hawk fans. The line between winning and losing in the big Ten is RAZOR THIN.

So what about the offensive and defensive coordinators he fired year after year, did he stop to think that maybe those guy's had a family, they weren't perfect, and they invested heavily in trying to make Minnesota a winner? I doubt it, he was looking out for himself and that is fine, but don't feel sorry for a man that got fired that in turn fired 3 or 4 people off his staff to try and save his own a$$.

That video was pretty funny. Some of you need to lighten up. You act like he is a guy who is barely scraping by to feed his family. If anyone can show me to the $600,000 door please do. He was a horrible coach, and may have also been delusional.

You forgot the wink. ;) Seriously. Let's try that again.

...Glen Mason, a truly great college coach... ;)

Minnesota's AD, Joel Maturi, hired a man that was not qualified for the position and clearly was in over his head once on the job. He got lucky. He was an assistant, never even a coordinator, who hit the lottery. He is financially set for life.

He is also an a$$. He was never fair to his coordinators. Nothing but pure bullsh*t flowed out of his mouth during his tenure. His players always quit on him, because they didn't believe anything he said. Most die hard Gopher fans were skeptical at first, then annoyed, then angry.

Based on his behavior, the salary he drew and his performance, we should be able to enjoy far more fun at his expense than just that video. Most Gopher fans, media, and former assistants likely agree.

So I'm safe in assuming that this means T Brew isn't gonna fulfill his promise of a Rose Bowl for the Rodents?
