Good long interview with Kirk at media days

Usually KF talks but doesn't say much. Somehow this one seems a little different.

Some of my favorite quotes from this great link...

Talking about Dwight and Banks - "And they both stayed in-state after finishing high school. That is one that’s changed, and you guys have seen it. Southeastern schools didn’t come up here 10 years ago. Everything is global now, so those guys will show up anywhere. It’s a different operation down there"

About Scherff - "He’s very much like Marshal Yanda. Marshal’s biggest attribute is his attitude, along with being strong and tough, but his attitude is so good. The Ravens figured that out and they really know it now and they’ve rewarded him for that. I’m not saying the other guys don’t have that, but Brandon is kind of an infectious guy. He’s a guy who makes teams better, other players around him better. There’s a lot of value in that." - I remember when he got hurt in the PSU game and he was still trying to get the team and the fans going as they carted him off the field.

Q: What’s the biggest challenge you face in recruiting?

"Overcoming probably, I don’t know if it’s a stigma or stereotype, we’re not perceived as a sexy school or a blue blood school. And we’re not.

That was my guess as well. I also found some of the comments about Brian interesting. He is definitely headed for bigger things, either here or somewhere else.

thanks for posting - just finished it up - i really enjoy when he talks about players - how they are - the background stuff we normally don't get to hear about - like mike daniels. the back story on these guys is really interesting and i'm sure makes it supremely gratifying to be a coach and be involved with these guys for 5 years.

I have the audio in a podcast on the front page....always fun to hear it, too

By far, Kirk's Day Two sit down at the B1G's are the best KF soundbytes of the year...not even close.

So many think KF is boring, but I actually think the opposite. His comments about asking Lloyd who else he could help take off the board are down right funny. He's very dry, but if you listen, he's very smart and funny too. He keeps his program close to the vest, and as frustrating as that can be it's just who he is.
