Good Gesell, Bad Gesell, a tale of halves

Man, if you put his first half at Purdue with his second half today that is really bad Gesell.

then his second half at Purdue and first half today are great.

has to drive him and Fran mad, especially Fran. I have liked Mike's overall play since his freshman year. Yeah he is not a great pt guard but he is mostly a plus player on the floor.

His second half today was laughable at times as it looked like he went braincramped and playing pickup Y ball.

Hawks are getting consistent Jok and Uhtoff scoring and when White and the two guards are playing the hawks are tough.

16 pts and 11 assists from the point guards today which was good.

As someone else said on the game thread "how did the hawks lose to NW?"

Which player will show up for the next game? Your Gesell is as good as mine. :) if Mike can start to show some of his better game in a consistant basis this time could get MAD again.

I don't think I would look to take much away from the 2nd half of today... Game was already over and everybody knew it.

Gesell still in top 8 in BigTen of Assists vs TO ratio.
Gesell, Jok, Sapp played great today and can continue you to do so.

Mike Gesell is just fine.............Go Hawks

I wonder where people would rank our guards in the conference now. With Gesell playing ok and Jok playing good, whe have to be pretty close to average now don't we?

I wasnt complaining about Gesell but more making an observation of some of his good and bad halves lately.

He has played well this year overall. I do hope for next year he gets better at his dish passing after driving in and turning the defense inward.

It's any given day in the B1G, there's about an eyelash difference between #2 - #10 depending on the day.

If Iowa can play, shoot above their avg, 3-1 is Very likely.

In a close game during crunch time I would prefer to have Gesell in there as he does the best job ( thus far) with ball control and distribution of the ball. What is scairy is his free throw percentage in the last few minutes of a game. In that regards I would rather have Jok or Josh on that free throw line when the game is on the line.

I still think Jok will be the x-factor next season. As goes Jok next year so goes Iowa......... Unless of course one of our incoming freshmen tears it up. Would love to see that happen.
