Gonzaga schedule

A lot was made about Davidson's schedule and how they didn't play many good teams, etc. That fact was certainly true and it showed that they simply hadn't played a team like Iowa and looked way over-matched.

Since January 1st, Davidson played 11 teams in the RPI top 101, going 8-3, 4 of those being against the top 50, going 2-2.

Since January 1st, Gonzaga has played 2 games against the RPI top 50, both against BYU (who lost their First Four game) and split those two games. They played 3 other games vs. the RPI top 100 (2 at home) and won all of them (2 vs. #68 St. Mary's and 1 vs. #83 Memphis).

They haven't played a team that played in the NCAA round of 64 since Dec. 13, when they beat UCLA during UCLA's 5 game losing streak.

They did beat Georgia, SMU, and St. John's early in the season (none on the road) and lost in OT at Arizona.

For a 2 seed, I'm not impressed by their schedule or their results. Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that Iowa can pull it off, but it's a draw I'll take over any other 2 seed in the tourney.

ironically, one of the TV morons said they had the easiest path of the 2-seeds because of the ISU and SMU losses...

Not sure WHO to believe...

Gonzaga is 3-6 vs. teams ranked in the top 25......SINCE 2011! The teams they beat were ranked #22, 16 and 22. 2 of those games are in the NCAA tournament. I guess if you schedule no one, you should have a good record every year.

I just don't like playing them in their back yard. That is one thing NCAA will need to change in coming years. We keep hearing high seeds get this as a "reward", but if high seeds keep losing every year, why should they get that "luxury"? It's one thing for a 1-seed Kentucky playing a 16-seed Southern Redneck U in Memphis. But an 8-seed Cincinnati in Louisville?!

I'll bet a 1-to-2-seeded Duke or UNC haven't had to play south of Atlanta, north of Richmond and west of Nashville in rounds 1/2/3 since Bill Russell was in college!

Sorry, but you will never convince me the committee is "unbiased" and "fair".

If our Hawks come out & play defense like they did last night they will be fine. The Zags have more size then Davidson but from what I seen last night they play much the same way as Davidson. I'm just really proud of the way the Hawks played and the job the coaching staff did to get them ready for last night. On to the next round, bring on Gonzaga! Go Hawks!

Yeah, & a one or two seed Iowa would get to play in Des Moines next year or Omaha this year. Heck a one or two seed Ohio State would have played in Columbus this year
