Glass half full

We have been in every game this year, we can play with any team in the country.

Maybe we can catch a few breaks and come out on the winning side in a close game for once in the NCAAs... maybe

It isn't coincidence that we've been losing all of our close games. They might be close but a loss is a loss. We should be able to pull out wins at the end of games against teams like Penn State and Illinois. It looks like my prediction of losing out will be true except for the Michigan game. This team just doesn't seem to have it in them to go all out. I don't see them winning their first round game.

Some times this team is beat even before the tip goes up. I listened to Bobby and Dolph on my back from Des Moines and those two were just beside themselves. Bobby especially. They both realize we only have 2 scorers and there is no help from the other 3, in any combination of who's on the court. Now granted. Iowa came back, twice, and had some production from Baer, but Woody, Mikey G, and Clemmons, not so much

Hopefully we can win our 1st round game, and maybe get lucky at the end in the 2nd round. That's why they play the games at least.

Or we can start talking about next year, I like that too.

We can't beat Illinois or Penn State who are both terrible teams. There's no way in hell we beat an actual good team in the NCAA tournament.

Has iowa won a close game all year? Minnesota? Drake? Florida state? Is that it?

The Minnesota team was terrible and we tried like hell to give the game to Florida State and they wouldn't take it. Same with the North Carolina game last year. If we're going to win a close game in the tourney, it will have to be because the other team gives it to us.

I'll play along...

Iowa comes into NCAAs as a 7 seed and gets by the 11 seed. Maybe its good to play a team that hasn't seen our 4 vets play for the last four years. Rd of 32 now vs. the 2 seed. At least now, we can be the hunter rather than the hunted. Pressure is on the 2...not the 7. Gessell hits Woodbury for an ally-oop dunk as time expires. Sweet 16...vs the 3 seed. We shoot lights out...finally...and win by double figures. Elite 8. We exact revenge on Villanova for that Bahamanian loss three years ago. Archiadia****o goes 0 for 11 while Sapp and Mike and woody go off for a combined 44 pts. Midwest region champs...But Woody falls off top step of ladder cutting down nets as he falls on scissors and is listed as day to day.

While the glass is now pretty much 7/8ths full as we make our first final four in 36 years, we think our run is over when Mt. Fransuvius finally erupts and gets the double T and is forced to leave with security. Incidentally, Fran's wife also gets ejected. Never fear though...Coach Speraw to the rescue. Draws up the perfect end of game play where Uhl dribbles it off his knee to a wide open Woodbury, who gets rejected as he tries the one handed dunk, ball flies out to Baer, who never turns down a shot and twinkles the twine from 29'! Hawks Win!!!

National Championship Game: Just one win away from one shining moment. Coach Fran back on the bench with a whole arsenal of timeouts as the Hawks prepare for battle against Coach K and Duke. The Devils lead at the half by 15 as the Duke student body chants, "Campbell's better! Clap clap clapclapclap! Campbell's better clap clap clapclapclap!!" But the heart of the champion, clutch, never say die Hawkeyes fight back to tie the game in the final minute.

30 seconds to play...10 seconds on the shot clock...After somehow going 25 feet without dribbling Cheapshot McTravel knocks in the layup. Puke up 2 with 19 secs to go. Time out Iowa...

With Jok and Uthoff on the bench for fouling out, Fran draws up the play. No one wants to run the "picket fence. Fran sees the lack of confidence in them, pauses, wipes the board clean. Just then, Clemmons steps up and says, "I'll make it!"

Fran: Get Sapp the ball on the top of the key...8 7 6...Sapp rams McTravel into a Woodbury eye-gouge...4 3 2...step back 3 for Sapp as in dials in his inner Kevin Gamble...SWISH!!!! cue the music...

Half full, baby!

Or we get beat by Arkansas-Little Rock and go home.

I did my usual self-pity-party for a couple of hours after the loss yesterday but I'm resetting and going to think positively that this team can win at least a game in the NCAAs. We all know the limitations of certain players but I'm rooting for the seniors to go out somewhat on top and they can do it if they play together.

The Minnesota team was terrible and we tried like hell to give the game to Florida State and they wouldn't take it. Same with the North Carolina game last year. If we're going to win a close game in the tourney, it will have to be because the other team gives it to us.

Hello, Illinois tried to give it away too, but too inept to receive the gift.

Sweet Jesus that was fun to read. Well done.

Yes. 2 people can carry a team in a two week period in the tourney.

Syracuse with the red headed guard and Melo...(although the guard had to make shots)
UCONN with the fat PG and some tall people
Duke last year with a PG
Nova in 85 with garbage
Butler, 2 years in a row undermanned

Ummm...thats it, you need one of those...most are fueled by guards, soooooooo...no
