Get to 6-2 and the bye week before UW

Look two losses in a row stink and the offense has been atrocious, but they were both against top 20 teams and Iowa had 6 turnovers in two games. If we can win these next two and figure something out offensively we will have one final chance to change the narrative on the season in Madison.

Wisconsin has looked like a force this year and there isn’t really anything Iowa could have done to change that to date. I’m not predicting an Iowa win, we will likely be two touchdown underdogs, but sometimes it’s when it’s least expected that Kirk-ball pulls off a major upset.
 
I think its very likely that Iowa drops one of thr next two and then somehow upsets Wisky. Gets the hole fanbase left spinning
 
I like that Iowa has a bye week before going to Madison. Wisconsin has a bye week as well but I still think that favors the underdog.

I do feel good about Iowa winning the next two games. Purdue is a get right game for Iowa and they are depleted with injuries. NW just hasn’t been that impressive. Iowa is better than both teams they just need to go out and prove it.

The only thing the bye week does is gives Wisconsin time to cook up more inside blitzes and stunts to embarrass our o-line. Iowa's last trip to Madison in November (which was in 2017) yielded a whopping 66 yards of offense on 50 plays. And that was with Akrum Wadley and James Butler in the backfield, Hock and Fant at TE and second round draft pick James Daniels anchoring the interior of the o-line, plus Nate Stanley as a first year starter before Ferentz brainwashed him into a zombie scared of TOs.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but the sooner we can all come to grips with what is going to happen, the easier the letdown will be. And if by some miracle Wisconsin has 8 turnovers and loses, it will be that much sweeter.

Usually at home, though. Very rarely on the road.

I’ve come to grips with the fact that we will probably lose to Wisconsin. They look like a legitimate playoff contender right now. Iowa can’t really be faulted for how good Wisconsin looks right now, it’s out of our control.

Take care of business the next two games and we will be a top 20 team heading to madison.

So far we’ve won all the games we were supposed to and lost the last two games we were underdogs. If Wisconsin is really the juggernaut everyone is saying they are than we weren’t going to win the west anyway. Keep beating the teams we are supposed to. We should be favored in every game besides that one the rest of the way.

It likely will but you never know.

You point out the game two years ago. Iowa actually had the ball down 14-17 in the 3rd quarter and Fant dropped a likely TD.

That was a UW team that won 13 games with their lone loss to OSU by 6 in Indy.

That was a Pinstripe Bowl Iowa outfit. This current roster is superior to that club.

Again it’s unlikely but you never know. Win the next two and we are a top 20 team heading there to play the game.

As for the inherent advantage when both teams have a bye game, I don’t completely disagree. But logic says the bye week favors the team that prepares better, that’s better coached, and that needs the time off to get healthy. I’m not familiar with Wisconsin’s injury situation, assuming that’s a wash with Iowa... all teams have injuries. As far as preparation goes, you have to take the Wisconsin staff all day long.

Josh had two pick 6s and a forced fumble that day. Iowa’s offense was terrible I didn’t say otherwise.

The point, which you somehow managed to miss, was that a pinstripe bowl Iowa outfit was still in the game at that point against a 13 win Wisconsin club.

This is a reasonable counterpoint for sure.
