Gesell sat way to long with 3 fouls!

He sits and sits and sits then come in and scores like ten points right now. I just don't see the logic in sitting him that long. Jok on the court that hasn't done anything in a game for like a month.

Until he can hit the front end of a free throw in the last 5 minutes of a game, he doesn't deserve to get more minutes

It’d be one thing if we were playing 11 guys and wearing the other team down with a fast-paced approach, but we don’t get fast-break or transition baskets anymore.

If he wouldn't have played the last 5 minutes we would have lost buy 15-20. That's fact.

You realize that if he'd gotten more minutes, maybe he doesn't even need to hit that front end, right? The guy was on fire from the floor and could have easily made up the potential two points we missed on his trip to the line.

Well if everyone was subject to such criteria, no one would be in the game. Incredibly sad when your 7 footer is the most reliable FT shooter on the team. No words for how pathetic our FT shooting has been.

He is the point guard and missing the front end of a one and one is a recurring theme this season. If he wants to be point, then he needs to hit free throws.

I wish he'd hit his free throws better, but he's way too good at everything else to take off the floor. Besides, who are we going to put in his place that's such an improvement at the line?

I am saying this out of frustration...

.... Jo or sapp

Well, Sapp has an even worse FT% than Gesell and is not nearly as good of an overall player, and JO rarely gets to the line at all (he's only attempted 2 FT's this year). Gesell is our guy, and I'm more than comfortable with that.

^correct. Time to shorten the bench or at least decrease their playing time. When a team like Mich or OSU shoots 45% or better then we dont get rebounds and fast breaks. OUr defense sets up the offense fast break.

I would say going into these last 8 important games that unless they are in foul trouble Gabe and Woody should be at the center spot 40 minutes a game. McCabe and Uthoff would only get short minutes spelling Basabe and white.

Gesell needs to be on the court as does Marble and Marble needs to start driving to the rim until he gets his shot back. Sapp and Josh in short minutes. If Josh is on fire he gets more minutes.

Maybe time for the Gabe and Woody on the court at the same time experiment.

That's twice now I've seen this idea. White, Uthoff and Basabe are our PFs. If McCabe's struggles are opening up minutes, I'd like to see those go to Uthoff. He can hurt you in a lot more ways than an out-of-position Center. Also it would be a laughable 180 for the offense, doing all this transition ball all year and then suddenly slamming on the brakes to get them touches in a half court game.

And WHY carefully regulate Uthoff's time?? He's a great rebounder off the bench, and he does our two biggest weaknesses very well. 46-80 from 3pt-FT lines. 3-4 rebounds and production from those two areas is fine by me to see more time.

Not in conference play, he hasn't been. He's averaging just 2.9 rpg so far. I think Uthoff will eventually be a very, very good player. But he's not there right now and seems to be a little overwhelmed with the level of play in conference.
